Hello Goethe friends and families and Logan Square residents! We are thrilled to share our plans and our vision for creating a communally-minded and “art-centric” school grounds at Goethe Elementary School. Local artists are working with FOGS to build a tile mosaic mural, multiple art panels and sculpture on the playground areas surrounding the school.
We are seeking the following in-kind-donations:
- 4- 4x8 sheets of durock concerete underlayment
- 1- 40 linear ft of ¾ inch hot-rolled milled steel angle iron
- 1 Gallon of epoxy paint
- 2- 20 lb. bags white thinset adhesive mortar
- 1 Gallon of liquid latex additive
- 2- 25 count boxes of 3/8 inch by 4 inch stainless steel expansive anchors
- Exterior grade acrylic paint 5-8 gallons in various bright colors
- Nails- various sizes
- Screws- various sizes
- Sponge brushes- various sizes
- Paint brushes- various sizes
- Buckets
- Adhesive gel/glue/expoxy
- Paint trays
- Paint tray liners
- Ceramic tile (various colors)
- Glass tile (various colors)
- Bottled water for volunteers
- Snack bars for volunteers
If you are unable to provide some or all of the above items, monetary donations are requested so that we can purchase the items needed for this great community project. Make checks payable to: Friends of Goethe School.
We've already collected ceramic and tile through a successful “Mosaic Dream Drive.” Goethe families and community members donated old china which will provide the raw materials for the mosaic mural itself.
